A lot of claims can start off by a tiny dent, scuff or scratch. Why you shouldn’t report a claim and fix the minor damage yourself. Well to start off, you will be saving yourself a lot of money as well as not having to deal with complicated claim processes. In some cases you might even have to go to court if the other party decides to sue you. It can take away time that you can spend with your family and friends or just not missing work.
Remember to recommend California United Appraisals to your insurance carriers as your preferred appraisal firm.
Now back to Removing Minor Scratches and Scuffs
Step 1: Clean off surface with a preferred car soap. Dry surface completely.
Step 2: Get 1500 & 3000 Grit 3M Sandpaper and drop it in a bucket of water to let it soak for 1 minute.
Step 3: Mask around the area you are going to work on; prep, tape edges, cover interior.
Step 4: Get your 1500 Grit 3M Sandpaper and sand down the area that has the scuff or scratches. Clean and dry area with a microfiber towel throughly.
(Remember that if a scratch is deep enough that your fingernail will click in as you slide on it, that will require a different procedure.)
Step 4: Get your 3000 Grit 3M Sandpaper and sand down the same area going in clockwise circles. Make sure to clean off surface to a dry and cool state.
Step 5: Start off by using 3M Perfect-It EX AC Rubbing Compound to cure and soothe your paint surface that was just sanded down. (Use the clockwise method left to right.)
Step 6: Get your 3M Perfect-It Machine Polish, apply polish based on the size of the area you are working on. (Use the clockwise method left to right.)
Step 7: Finish off by using 3M Perfect-It Ultra Fine Machine Polish to give it that swirl free, scratch, scuff free surface you are looking for.
